GTA VI Missions

There is no GTA VI mission list yet — anyone showing you one is making it up. What does exist is a surprising amount of real mission intel: an official premise, filmed sequences, mission-giver bios and breach-documented systems. All of it is below, each entry labelled and sourced. Tick "Mark seen" on what you've already caught — your progress rolls up on My Assets.

How to read this page: entries marked ✓ Official are confirmed by Rockstar — a trailer, the official site or the Newswire. Leaked is the verified September 2022 breach: authentic, but a 2021–22 early build that may have changed. Reported is a named outlet, not Rockstar-confirmed. Rumored is attributed but unverified. Anonymous fabrications aren't listed at all — they're in the debunk table at the bottom.
The story so far
"Vice City, USA. Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive."

— Rockstar's official premise, Newswire, May 2025

  • A single-player campaign — Rockstar's words, June 2026: "Grand Theft Auto VI is a single player experience." Missions are the game.
  • Launching November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with preloads expected from November 12.
  • A Bonnie-and-Clyde frame — reported by Bloomberg before the reveal and borne out by every trailer since. ReportedBloomberg ↗

Mission sequences shown so far

Every mission-shaped piece of footage that actually exists — official trailers and Rockstar's own screenshot captions first, then the two 2022-breach clips that showed whole missions running.

The easy score that goes wrong

Rockstar's own setup reads like a mission synopsis: "when an easy score goes wrong," Jason and Lucia land "in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive." One botched job kicks off a statewide arc; it's the closest thing to an official mission brief that exists.

Trailer 1 · closing scene

The masked stickup

The first mission-like footage ever shown: Jason and Lucia rob a store as a pair — masks on, Lucia over the counter with a pistol, Jason covering the room. Trailer 1 closes on it because it is the whole premise in one shot: two people pulling jobs who only have each other.

Trailer 2 · robbery montage

The armed-robbery spree

Trailer 2 turns one stickup into a pattern: door-kick entries, register grabs, getaways — and Rockstar's own screenshot caption describes "Lucia holding a handgun while hiding behind a slightly open door" with a man aiming back through the gap. Robbing Leonida's storefronts looks like a running mission arc, not a one-off.

Lucia's stretch in Leonida Penitentiary

Trailer 1 opens on Lucia's prison interview ("bad luck, I guess"); Trailer 2 adds the yard, the visitation glass and her walk back into the world. Her official bio closes the loop — "Fighting for her family landed her in the Leonida Penitentiary. Sheer luck got her out." Every sign points at prison as the story's opening move.

The night-highway pursuit

Lucia drives a muscle car flat-out down a night highway while Jason leans out the passenger window returning fire — the shot the cover art reuses. Add the police cruisers and helicopter elsewhere in the trailer and you get the mission template GTA does best: the getaway that goes loud.

The Grassrivers swamp chase

Rockstar's caption, verbatim: "A helicopter and two police cars chase a pick-up truck through a swamp with alligators in the Grassrivers. An airboat is seen in the background." Pursuits deep in the wetlands — far from Vice City neon — are officially on the menu.

Sept 2022 breach · the most complete mission ever seen

The Hank's Waffles diner robbery

The breach's centerpiece clip: playing as Lucia with Jason on commands, the duo robs a waffle-house diner — hostages zip-tied, registers emptied, a police-dispatch countdown ticking down to the getaway. An early 2021–22 build, but it remains the only full mission loop anyone outside Rockstar has watched end-to-end.

Who you'll work for

Rockstar's character bios double as mission briefs. Read literally, they sketch four storylines — each tied to people and places already on this site.

Brian handing a wrapped package to a man in a plane — official screenshot
Official character bio

Brian Heder's smuggling runs

Jason already works for Brian when the story opens — "still moving product through his boat yard," bragging "I hauled so much grass in that plane, I could make the state of Leonida levitate," and letting Jason live rent-free "so long as he helps with local shakedowns." That's a job description for the early game: boat runs, air drops and muscle work in the Keys.

Official character bio

Raul Bautista's bank jobs

Rockstar's clearest heist pointer, straight from the bio: "a seasoned bank robber always on the hunt for talent ready to take the risks that bring the biggest rewards," whose "recklessness raises the stakes with every score. Sooner or later, his crew will have to double down or pull their chips from the table." That reads like an escalating heist chain — though no heist gameplay has been shown.

The Only Raw Records come-up

Boobie says the quiet part loud — "the club money pay for the studio, and the drug money pay for it all" — while Dre'Quan tries to break the Real Dimez beyond strip-club bookings. A music-business storyline anchored to the Jack of Hearts and the label, with the street money that funds it never far away.

Official character bio + screenshot caption

Cal's ears on the Coast Guard

Cal "feels safest hanging at home, snooping on Coast Guard comms" — exactly the overwatch a smuggling run needs — and Rockstar's caption of "Cal and Jason walking side by side each holding a duffel bag" puts him in the field too. His bio's closer, "his friend Jason has bigger plans," hints the paranoid support man gets pulled deeper.

Side missions & activities

Rockstar has named exactly one mission so far — a side mission — and captioned a busy activity roster around it.

Ultimate Edition · the only officially named mission

Wyman's Classic Car Collection

The one mission Rockstar has named: an Ultimate Edition bonus side mission around collecting classic cars for Wyman, the mechanic pictured wrench-in-hand outside his garage. One named entry confirms the format — structured side missions with characters attached — and it's a car-collection quest, a GTA staple.

Activities Rockstar has already shown

Rockstar's captions and edition kit sketch the side-content roster: rifle hunting in Mount Kalaga's woods, scuba over the reefs, kayaking, dirt-bike and ATV mud runs, airboats among the gators, jet skis, street-takeover stunt meets — and the edition garages throw in a kayak, fishing spots and a golf cart. Expect the activity wheel to be busy.

A single-player story, full stop

Sept 2022 breach · diner-clip UI

The wanted-system overhaul

The diner clip ran a full police-response UI: witnesses who can give a "Full Description," vehicle descriptions that update when you're seen switching cars, a "Time Until Cops Dispatch" countdown, flagged callers you can stop before they dial — and police that surround the building instead of swarming the door. Robbery missions with an escape-window clock built in.

Sept 2022 breach · co-op robbery flow

Partner commands mid-robbery

Breach footage had the player running one protagonist while directing the other — rob, threaten or talk down room by room — plus zip-tie restraints for hostages and a genuine surrender-to-police option. Two-hander missions where the other lead is a controllable partner, not an escort.

Sept 2022 breach · debug menus

Robberies as a system, not a script

Debug text in the breach carried a standing "Rob, threaten, and talk with NPCs during robbery" mode — stickups as a systemic activity you can point at ordinary stores, not just scripted set pieces. It matches the trailers' rotating cast of robbed storefronts.

Sept 2022 breach · debug identifiers

STORY000 — numbered story missions

The breach's debug overlays included PLAYER_LUCIA_PLAYER_STORY000_00 and PLAYER_JASON_PLAYER_STORY000_01 — read by leak documentarians as the first story-mission slots, with a Lucia mission numbered ahead of Jason's. Thin, but it's the only structural evidence of the mission list in existence.

Outlet reporting · unconfirmed

Switching leads mid-mission

Outlets describe switching between Jason and Lucia inside missions — not just in free-roam — with money, heat and hideouts shared between them. Rockstar hasn't confirmed it; the breach showed both leads playable in the same scene, which is as far as the evidence goes.

Bloomberg · July 2022

More missions after launch — the plan

Bloomberg's Jason Schreier — whose 2022 report called the Bonnie-and-Clyde duo before the reveal — reported Rockstar's plan to keep adding "more missions and even cities" to the game after launch rather than crunching everything into day one. Studio intent circa 2022, not a promise; nothing has been announced since.

Bloomberg · July 2022

More enterable interiors than any GTA

The same report: even after Rockstar trimmed the early multi-continent 'Project Americas' scope, VI carries more interior locations than any previous GTA. Interiors are mission real estate — every robbery shown so far happens inside one.

Attributed claims that clear our bar for a mention, not for belief. Anonymous stuff doesn't even get this far.

Attributed claim · zero corroboration

A rapper cameo side mission

Media personality HipHopGamer claims a side mission featuring a major rapper went hard enough to accidentally leave CM Punk bloody during production (the community reads it as Freddie Gibbs). A named person on the record — which is why it's listed at all — but no outlet has corroborated it and Rockstar has said nothing.

Mission FAQ

How many missions will GTA VI have?

Nobody knows — Rockstar hasn't said, and no credible outlet has ever reported a count or a story length. Every number circulating (68 missions, 200 side missions, five chapters, 75 hours) traces to anonymous posts or SEO farms. The only officially named mission is Wyman's Classic Car Collection, an Ultimate Edition side mission.

Will GTA VI have heists?

Nothing is confirmed, but Rockstar's own bio for Raul Bautista — "a seasoned bank robber always on the hunt for talent" whose crew "raises the stakes with every score" — is a heist setup in as many words. The 2022 breach also showed a complete diner-robbery loop. No heist gameplay has been shown officially.

Do you play missions as both Jason and Lucia?

Both are official protagonists and the trailers show them pulling jobs as a pair. Breach footage had the player controlling one while giving commands to the other, and outlets report mid-mission switching — that last part is not yet Rockstar-confirmed.

Is GTA VI single-player only at launch?

Rockstar's June 2026 pre-order announcement calls it "a single player experience." No Online mode has been announced.

When do missions get real names and details?

At or near launch — November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The next likely info beat is Trailer 3, which is unannounced; community expectation clusters around Take-Two's August 7 earnings call. This page updates the day anything lands — follow the news timeline.

This page covers the story; for mechanics by tier see the features tracker. The people handing out these jobs live on the characters page, their world on the interactive Leonida map, and every official beat lands on the news timeline.
