Privacy Policy

freemode is built privacy-first. We don't run ads, we don't sell data, and we don't load third-party advertising or tracking networks. This page explains exactly what is stored and where.

Progress stored in your browser

By default, everything you track — map collectibles, owned vehicles and properties, calculator inputs and notes — is saved locally in your browser using localStorage. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to create an account. If you clear your browser storage, that progress is removed.

Optional accounts (cross-device sync)

Accounts are completely optional and free, and exist only so your progress can sync across devices. Accounts run on our own self-hosted PocketBase server (no third-party provider). When you sign up, we store only:

• your email address (used to sign in and identify your account), and
• the IDs of the items you've tracked (for example, which collectibles you've found or which assets you own).

We do not store your real name, payment details (donations and purchases happen on the providers' own sites), or any profile beyond what's listed above. You can delete your account at any time, which removes your stored email and tracked item IDs.

No ads, no marketing trackers

freemode displays no advertising and includes no advertising SDKs, no ad-network pixels, and no cross-site behavioral trackers. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.

Analytics

Our analytics are cookieless and store no personal data: no cookies, no fingerprinting, no cross-site identifiers, and nothing that identifies you. We measure only aggregate, anonymous signals — page views, referrers and coarse device/country breakdowns — to understand what's useful. Page views are counted first-party by our hosting platform (Vercel Web Analytics, served from our own domain with no third-party trackers), and any additional analytics we run are self-hosted on the same cookieless terms. There is no Google Analytics and no cookie banner, because there are no tracking cookies to consent to.

External links: affiliates and donations

Some outbound links are affiliate links — for example, the shop and the GTA VI pre-order links to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, freemode earns from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. These are plain links: no Amazon script, pixel, or cookie runs on freemode itself, and we learn nothing about what you buy. Amazon's own privacy policy applies once you're on their site.

Likewise, optional donations are processed entirely on the providers' hosted pages (NOWPayments for crypto, Stripe for cards). freemode never sees or stores your payment details, and the providers' privacy policies apply on their sites.

The shop

Posters and merch are printed and shipped by our print-on-demand provider, Printful. Product photos on the shop load from Printful's image CDN, which may set its own cookies in your browser — these are product images, not advertising or tracking. When you check out, payment is handled by Stripe (we never see your card details) and we send only the order and shipping details needed to fulfil it to Printful. Those services' privacy policies apply to them.

Cookies and local storage

We use browser localStorage to remember your progress and preferences. If you sign in, a session token is used to keep you logged in. We don't use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Children's privacy

freemode is a general-audience companion site and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of freemode after an update means you accept the revised policy.
