Fastest Cars in GTA Online

vehicles cars racing supers

“What’s the fastest car in GTA Online?” is one of the most-asked questions in the game — and the answer is more nuanced than a single number. Manufacturer top-speed stats in the garage are not real top speeds, and the car that wins races is rarely the one with the highest straight-line speed. This guide breaks down what actually matters. To sort and filter every car by real top speed, class and price, use the vehicle database.

Top speed vs. lap time

Two stats decide a car’s racing pedigree:

  • Real top speed — the speed it actually reaches on a long straight (tested by the community, not the in-game bars).
  • Lap time — how fast it gets around a track, factoring acceleration, braking, traction and cornering.

For most races, lap time wins. A car with a slightly lower top speed but sharper handling and better acceleration will beat a twitchy missile on any track with corners. Pure top speed only matters on long, open circuits.

The fastest by real top speed

The classic answer to “the fastest car” is a Sports-class car, not a Super:

Pariah
Fastest car$1,420,000

The Ocelot Pariah is the fastest standard car in GTA Online by real top speed — and it’s a Sports car that outruns nearly every million-dollar Super, for a fraction of the price. If you want one car that wins drag races and bragging rights, this is it.

Here’s how the genuine top-speed kings line up (community-tested mph, not the in-game bars):

VehicleClassTop speedPrice
PariahSports136 mph$1,420,000
Itali RSXSports134.5 mph$3,465,000
ZenoSuper128 mph$4,723,500
ThraxSuper123.75 mph$2,325,000
FuriaSuper121.75 mph$2,740,000
811Super130.75 mph$1,135,000
AdderSuper126.25 mph$1,000,000

The Grotti Itali RSX, Överflöd Zeno and Truffade Thrax are the Super-class cars that come closest to the Pariah, and the Pfister 811 and Truffade Adder remain elite straight-line performers years after release.

The best race cars

On a track with corners, you want balance, not just a high terminal velocity. The community gravitates to cars with strong lap times:

Emerus

The Progen Emerus is a benchmark race car — superb acceleration and cornering that translate to elite lap times. On a technical track it beats most things with a higher top speed.

The Benefactor Krieger pairs a near-top-tier top speed with the handling to use it. A safe pick for competitive racing where you don’t know the track in advance.

Beyond the supercars

  • Off-road and rally: for dirt and mixed terrain, top speed means nothing — traction is king. See the best off-road vehicles.
  • Two wheels: the fastest bikes are a different leaderboard entirely — see the best motorcycles.
  • Free-roam fun: weaponized and special vehicles trade raw speed for utility — see the best weaponized vehicles.

How to choose

Don’t buy purely off a top-speed leaderboard. Ask:

  1. What am I racing? Tight tracks reward handling; open ones reward top speed.
  2. What’s my budget? The Pariah delivers elite straight-line speed for a fraction of a top-tier Super’s price.
  3. Free-roam or competitive? Utility vehicles can be more valuable day-to-day than the fastest racer.

Use the vehicle database to compare exact figures and prices, and budget your purchase with the business profit calculator so a fast car doesn’t wipe out your income engine. A garage full of money-makers first, then the toys — your future self (and your wallet) will thank you.
