The Cayo Perico Heist is the best money-making heist for solo players in GTA Online. It can be planned, prepped and finished entirely on your own, and a good run pays $1.1M–$1.4M+ (pre-TU 1.73 values — the July 14, 2026 update trimmed primary and secondary loot by amounts the community is still confirming). What you need
The Kosatka submarine is the only mandatory purchase — you plan, prep and launch the entire heist from its war room, and every prep can be done solo. It pays for itself in a run or two.
Not required, but the single best quality-of-life upgrade. The Sparrow spawns from the Kosatka and makes prep travel trivial — most grinders consider it essential. Add the Guided Missile module too.
Step 1: Gather intel (the scope)
Start the heist from the Kosatka’s planning room, then fly to the island to take photos of:
- The primary target in El Rubio’s office (this is your big payout).
- Secondary loot: gold, cocaine, weed, cash and paintings scattered around the compound and town.
- Points of entry (the drainage tunnel is the solo favorite), guard patrols, and your escape point.
- Useful equipment: grappling equipment, cutting torch and the like.
Prioritize scoping gold as your secondary loot — it has the best value-to-grab-time ratio. Cash is fast but low value; paintings are good but limited to one per bag. Use the interactive map to memorize loot and entry locations before your first attempt.
Step 2: Preps
The required preps are manageable solo:
- Approach vehicle and escape outfits (grab the gruppe sechs outfit for an easy front-gate distraction route, or a weapons-loadout outfit if you prefer combat).
- Cutting torch / grappling equipment depending on your entry and loot plan.
- Disable the island’s defenses and cameras during prep to smooth the finale.
Step 3: The stealth loadout
Cayo rewards silence. A suppressed weapon lets you drop guards without triggering the alarm:
The Perico Pistol is hidden on the island during the heist — suppressed and free. Grab it on your way in and you have a silent sidearm for the whole run without bringing anything.
If you’d rather start armed, the Ceramic Pistol is suppressed and undetectable by metal scanners — a perfect bring-your-own stealth pistol for a clean entry.

Step 4: The finale
A reliable solo route:
- Approach via the drainage tunnel to reach the compound undetected.
- Head straight for the office, grab the primary target, and crack any safe/desk inside.
- On the way out, fill remaining bags with the gold you scoped.
- Exit through the compound, avoid the guard hotspots you photographed, and reach your escape point.
Move deliberately, stay crouched, and take down guards quietly when needed. If you set off the alarm, do not panic — head for the water and your escape vehicle.
Step 5: Escape and payout
Reach the extraction point, then return to the Kosatka to finish. After the fence’s cut, a solo run with the primary target plus a full load of gold lands comfortably in the $1.2M+ range.
Tips for repeat runs
- Hard mode adds a payout bonus but increases security — only push it once you know the map.
- There is a cooldown between back-to-back finales, so alternate Cayo with business sell missions to keep earning.
- Reinvest your first few payouts into income — see which property to buy first.
Once the route is muscle memory, Cayo Perico becomes a sub-30-minute payday you can run almost entirely on autopilot.
