The Doomsday Heist Guide (Acts I–III)

heists doomsday money facility

The Doomsday Heist is three heists in a trench coat: Act I (The Data Breaches), Act II (The Bogdan Problem) and Act III (The Doomsday Scenario), each with its own preps, setups and finale. It was the first heist strand playable with just two players, which still makes it the go-to for duos who can’t fill a four-seat Apartment heist lobby. The planner values the pots at $975,000, $1,425,000 and $1,800,000 for Acts I–III on normal — run your crew size and cuts through the heist payout planner to see your actual take, and see where the strand lands overall in our heists ranked hub.

The Facility is the only hard requirement — every act is planned from its situation room, and it stores the Avenger and the strand’s weaponized vehicles. The cheapest locations start around $1.25M; buy for location, not decor.

You also need to be registered as a CEO/VIP or MC president to launch preps, and at least one other player for setups and finales — preps can be done solo, but no setup or finale can be launched solo.

How each act works

Every act runs the same three-phase loop:

  1. Preps — freemode missions to source equipment. Each prep can be stolen for free or bought out for cash; stealing is fine with two players.
  2. Setups — instanced missions with your full team. Act I has 3 (Dead Courier, Signal Intercepts, Server Farm), Act II has 4 (Avenger, Rescue ULP, Salvage Hard Drives, Submarine Recon), Act III has 5 (Rescue Agent 14, Escort ULP, Barrage, Khanjali, Air Defenses).
  3. The finale — the payout mission. The planner books a $25,000 setup fee against each act’s pot.

Acts must be completed in order the first time through; after that you can replay any act, though a fresh run of its setups is required each time.

Act I: The Data Breaches — $975,000 ($1,218,750 hard)

The tutorial act. You chase the source of a series of hacks, ending in a fight through the IAA facility against Avon’s juggernaut guards. The finale is short and mostly shooting — with decent aim a duo clears it comfortably. The Elite Challenge (about 5:30 or faster, roughly 78 kills, nobody wasted) adds a $50,000 bonus.

Act II: The Bogdan Problem — $1,425,000 ($1,781,250 hard)

The community favorite. Setups hand you the strand’s best toys — you steal the Avenger and take Strombergs underwater to scan Bogdan’s submarine — and the finale itself is a quick submarine infiltration that experienced duos finish in well under 15 minutes. That speed is exactly why Act II is the best money-per-hour act when replayed legitimately. One warning: the infamous “Bogdan glitch” replay exploit violates Rockstar’s terms, and glitched replays risk suspensions or wipes — grind it straight. Elite here asks for a sub-15:00 clear with 5% or less vehicle damage and no deaths.

The flying fortress you steal in Act II’s setup and can then buy for keeps. A VTOL cargo plane with a weapon workshop inside — overkill for most jobs, glorious for all of them.

Act III: The Doomsday Scenario — $1,800,000 ($2,250,000 hard)

The blockbuster. Five setups (including stealing the Khanjali tank and knocking out air defenses) lead into a long finale: assault the missile silo, fight through the base, stop the launch, then chase Avon’s escape craft. It’s the biggest original-style finale in GTA Online and the strand’s biggest pot, but the run time and hack checkpoints make it slower per hour than Act II. Elite is the strictest in the game: about 30:00, zero failed hacks, 150 headshots, nobody wasted, for a $50,000 bonus.

Hard mode and Criminal Mastermind II–IV

Hard mode raises each pot by 25% — worth it once your team knows the missions. The real prize is the Criminal Mastermind ladder: complete all three acts in order, on hard, with the same team, without anyone dying, and the bonus scales with team size — about $750,000 for two players (CMM II), $1,750,000 for three (CMM III) and $3,750,000 for four (CMM IV). For a duo, CMM II adds a huge bonus on top of the strand’s total payout and is very achievable with patience.

The toy box

Beyond the Avenger, Doomsday introduced the Thruster jetpack, the TM-02 Khanjali tank, the amphibious Stromberg and the stealth Akula — all flavor rather than requirements, but the Deluxo is the one with staying power:

The flying DeLorean. You get handed missile-armed Deluxos during Act I’s setups; owning one later is pure convenience and pure style. Expensive for what it does, unforgettable anyway.

Verdict

Run all three acts once for the story, the unlocks and Criminal Mastermind. After that, Act II is the one worth repeating. If pure GTA$-per-hour is the goal, though, the Cayo Perico solo route and the Diamond Casino Heist still pay better — see how to make money fast for where Doomsday fits in a full grind rotation.
